Caney is a city in Montgomery County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 1,966.
Caney is located at 37°0′49″N 95°56′1″W / 37.01361°N 95.93361°W / 37.01361; -95.93361 (37.013537, -95.933739). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.35 square miles (3.50 km), all of it land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 2,203 people, 866 households, and 574 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,631.9 inhabitants per square mile (630.1/km). There were 1,020 housing units at an average density of 755.6 per square mile (291.7/km). The racial makeup of the city was 86.2% White, 0.7% African American, 5.8% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.9% from other races, and 6.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.1% of the population.
There were 866 households of which 36.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 12.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 33.7% were non-families. 30.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.05.
The median age in the city was 35.9 years. 25.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 9.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 24.5% were from 25 to 44; 24.3% were from 45 to 64; and 15.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 48.3% male and 51.7% female.

The racial makeup of the city was 90.44% White, 0.19% African American, 5.59% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 1.39% from other races, and 2.29% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.01% of the population.

The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 3.03.
